Operational Risk (OPNS-919-A)

Description:
This course counts toward the following majors: Operations. This course will explore how different industries use the term “operational risk” today, and the techniques used to identify and quantify such risk. Specific emphasis will be given to the consideration of operational risk in financial services, as motivated by the Basel II accords and the general information technology arena. Students will develop a framework for identifying, assessing and managing operational risk through examples and a project. Working in teams, students will apply an operational risk management framework to a real company and present their approach to the class on the last day of the course.
